How to Use Hair Rollers
If you have extremely dry or porous hair be very careful when you use velcro rollers. These can get stuck in your hair like velcro. If you have very dry porous hair use a smooth hair roller so it doesn’t pull your hair out.
First start with the hair framing your face. Begin by blow drying the hair in the direction you’d like your curl to go. The purpose of this is to roughly smooth and heat the hair before rolling it. Start with a medium roller at the root and brush up toward the end. Make sure that the ends are tucked into the roller. Roll down toward your scalp and clip into place. Repeat with sections all over your head.
Use a triangular hairnet to keep everything in place while drying. Make sure to tie the knot at the forehead and not on your hair otherwise it could create a crease. Let this set for at least 30 minutes.
When you’re ready, remove the hairnet and start to unroll the hair from the back first. If you want more volume you can tease hair and spray with hairspray.
Evenly distribute some grooming creme through the hair to breakup the curl. This will give your hair a more natural look. Add a pea size amount of creme contour into hair to give a pieced texture.
If your hair comes out too curly you can always blow some cool air through it, that will loosen it up. Another option, is to quickly run a straighter through the ends of your hair. Just be mindful not to add too much heat to your hair as it can be very damaging.
